Road Rules
-
The road captain has final authority in
all aspects of the ride.
-
The road captain shall have the authority to assign riding positions to each
rider in the group if he/she feels it is necessary.
-
It is the road captain's responsibility to make sure that all speed limits and traffic laws
are followed.
-
Any rider who operates their bike in an unsafe manner may
be asked to leave the ride.
-
All riders must ride in a safe and courteous manner
so as not to endanger other
riders in the group.
-
All riders will ride in a staggered formation, with
the lead
bike in the left 1/3 of lane, the second bike in the right 1/3 of lane and so
on,
keeping a 2-second distance from the bike in front of you. This is so that you
will have
room to maneuver in an emergency, and not collide with the bike in front of you.
-
Keep
a safe distance, but don't fall too far back. We strive to keep the group in
a tight but safe formation so we don't lose anybody.
-
There
will also be a designated tail rider. The tail rider's job is to see that
the group stays in
a safe but tight formation. The tail rider initiates lane changes the road
captain has signaled, lane changes start with the tail rider and move forward
towards the road captain. In the event of the group being split
(by a red light, etc.) the tail rider then moves forward to lead the
second group if necessary.
-
If you can not abide by these rules you will be
asked to leave the group ride.
